Abstract
The Swift feeds insects and is usefull bird. The species takes over the space from the disappearing Martins. They breed in holes of walls, under the eves of houses and under roofs, but their life is in danger since so many houses were restored and every tiny hole is plastered. Up to now there are only a few reports whether the Swift breeds in nest boxes. The birds often scream in the nest, when others are passing by and late at night. InJuly groups of 20-30 birds are circling around, then old and young leave the towns duringthe day. They come back in the evening. They left the town Göttingen (southern LowerSaxony, Germany) for migration July 25th. T.
